Sponsor Info PacketThe SCORE Showdown is an upcoming VEX Robotics Tournament that will bring together 120 teams across three age levels from around the world to compete at the Great Wolf Lodge in LaGrange, GA. Teams will compete in the VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) or VEX IQ Challenge (VIQC). The event will be hosted by the Southeastern Center of Robotics Education (SCORE) in partnership with the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation.
The VRC and VIQC, both presented by the REC Foundation, are the largest and fastest growing elementary, middle and high school robotics programs globally with more than 20,000 teams from 50 countries playing in over 1,700 competitions worldwide. Each year, an exciting engineering challenge is presented in the form of a game. Students, with guidance from their teachers and mentors, build innovative robots and compete year-round, fostering development of the teamwork, critical thinking, project management, and communication skills required to prepare them to become the next generation of innovators and problem solvers.
SCORE is an Auburn University outreach center designed to more effectively develop & deliver robotics education to K-12 students and teachers. Thanks to SCORE’s years of experience hosting VEX events, including the Alabama State Championships, the SCORE Showdown will be an unforgettable experience for students.
The SCORE program centralizes the robotics education activities already underway at Auburn University, and provides a mechanism for growth in the area of robotics education outreach. Programs offered through SCORE reflect Auburn University’s committment to research, outreach and instruction as a land, sea and space grant institution by using robots on the land, in the air and on the water. SCORE is the only center of its kind in the country.
